It has a creative nature and, therefore, may be subject to copyright protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This paper is an introduction to the issue of the legal protection of dramatic character. The article reports on research of dramatic character as an object of copyright. The study of the legal nature of the dramatic character is especially emphasized. This article aims at reviewing the national legislation, also identifies and defines the necessary concepts for improving legislation in the field of legal regulation of a dramatic character. Besides, the issues of the components of a dramatic character are considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are partially considered some aspects of the correlation and differences between the dramatic character and the character in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article emphasizes that the dramatic character is creative by nature, so it may fall under copyright. The question arises about how the actor creates the dramatic character and what is the legal nature of this work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue of legal protection of a dramatic character is not sufficiently studied in Ukrainian civil law. The effectiveness of the protection of rights to a dramatic character can be increased by studying its legal nature, finding out the criteria for granting it copyright protection, and establishing a circle of persons who may act as authors of a dramatic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue of legal regulation of the dramatic character in theatre has not been studied in Ukraine, although it has been raised by some scholars and researchers. There are no comprehensive studies of the dramatic character as an object of copyright.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article aims at reviewing the effective national legislation, also identifies and defines the necessary concepts for improving legislation in the field of legal regulation of a dramatic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The article points to ongoing discussions in the field of theatrical art and law regarding the dramatic character. There is also an attempt to introduce the definition of a dramatic character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, copyright legislation does not contain a definition of the concept of &#8220;dramatic character&#8221;. The article provides arguments as to the expediency of expanding the categorical apparatus by introducing appropriate amendments to the legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keywords:
